Natalia Kononova
 
 

Natalia Kononova is one of the finest violinist, a prize-winner of numerous violin competitions since her earliest years, she has worked with some finest ensembles and musicians as Sir Georg Solti, Lord Yehudi Menuhin, Gidon Kremer, Yuri Temirkanov, Victor Tretiakov, Yuli Turovski, Kent Nagano and Jacques Lacombe.


Mrs. Kononova is giving concerts as a soloist and chamber music player in Russia, France, Switzerland, Guatemala, China, UK, Mexico, Japan, Canada and USA. From 1991 until 1993 Natalia worked as Associate Concertmaster of the St. Petersburg Capella Orchestra, in 1994 she joined the section of first violins of the world famous St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra with which she has toured all over the world until 2000, when Natalia has moved to Montreal. From 2001 until 2002 Mrs. Kononova worked in I Musici de Montreal, from 2002 with The Trio Rachmaninoff of Montreal and recorded with them a wonderful CD in 2003 under the label of ATMA, in 2006 Natalia joined the Drummonville Symphony Orchestra in Quebec, Canada as a Concertmaster. In 2009 Mrs. Kononova successfully performed a world premiere of Concerto.No.2 of a canadian composer Anne Lauber.


Born n Leningrad, now St. Petersburg, Natalia Kononova began studying the violin from the age of four with Lew Ivashenko at the Special Music School of the Leningrad State Conservatoire, following (from 1990 until 1995) at the Conservatoire where Natalia did her Master Degree with Professor Vladimir Ovtcharek and Professor Tamara Fiedler.


In her school years she took part in music competition, invariably winning some prizes, however the most successful major competition event was her 1st Prize at the 8th National Violin Competition in 1989, the prize at the Oistrakh International Violin Competition in Iserlohn, Germany in 1993 and 2nd Prize of the Gartow Society Violin Competition in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1994.



Natalia’s solo repertoire includes works by J.S. Bach, L.v.Beethoven, J. Brahms, C. Debussy, A. Glazunov, F. Kreisler, F. Mendelssohn, W.A. Mozart, N. Paganini, S. Prokofiev, M. Ravel, C. Saint-Saens, J. Sibelius, P. Tchaikovsky and many others.
